By all accounts, Daniel Galorenzo was exceptional…….an exceptional son, brother, friend, athlete and classmate. Daniel grew up in Hanover Township, New Jersey. He was known for his amazingly infectious smile, a dynamic sense of humor, and quick wit. With his quick sarcastic wit and playful charm, Daniel was able to win over a new friend or warm up an entire room full of people. Daniel was a gifted athlete. His first loves were soccer, baseball, and wrestling. Although he was small in stature, Daniel was ferocious in his approach to each sport. He often chose the most physically demanding position and took on the biggest kid on the opposing team. Daniel also loved music……his dream and aspiration was to be a rock star. To many he knew, HE WAS A ROCK STAR!
Daniel attended Seton Hall Prep High School. Although he was meeting teachers and classmates for the very first time, Daniel used his dynamic personality to immediately build friendships and establish a popularity. He played varsity soccer, was on the varsity wrestling team, and was a member of the school band.
Daniel had a future that appeared boundless!
Tragically, on February 7, 2002, following the school wrestling match, this talented, spirited 103 pound wrestler suddenly collapsed and died of an aortic aneurysm. Coaches, teammates, classmates and the community fondly remember Daniel and honor his memory with expressions such as “DG 103”, “G-Man”, and simply “G”.
THE DANIEL GALORENZO FOUNDATION
The Daniel Galorenzo Foundation was formed to commemorate, honor and remember Daniel; reach out to the communities that so supportively embraced him; and touch those who were not fortunate to have known him and experience his kindness and strength.
The Foundation’s primary mission is to enhance the quality of life for children with life-challenging illnesses…..giving back to them what their illnesses have taken away – dignity, laughter and hope.
Our goal is to give gifts directly to these children. Our gifts can be of a medical nature to help with their care during their illness; or a “fun item” to help take their mind off their illness and put a smile on their face! Since the inception of the Foundation in 2003, we have gifted close to $1 million dollars to hundreds and hundreds of special children.
